Testing Bancors for a Modern Web Design Project
I was working on a redesign for a boutique online store selling handcrafted leather goods when I stumbled upon Bancors. It was one of those moments where the right font just clicks with the overall brand identity. Bancors is a modern paint brushed handwritten font, and it immediately felt like a natural fit for this project. Its strong, confident, and dynamic personality aligned perfectly with the brand's message of craftsmanship and individuality.
The first thing I did was test Bancors in the hero section. I placed it over a high-quality image of a leather wallet with a soft gradient overlay to ensure readability. The result was striking—Bancors added a stylish touch without overwhelming the visual content. It gave the headline a sense of movement and energy that matched the brand’s tone.
As I moved through the layout, I experimented with using Bancors for section headings and call-to-action buttons. It worked well for short phrases but wasn’t suitable for long paragraphs or body text. That made sense given its script style—it’s more of a display font than a readable body typeface. I paired it with a clean sans serif font for the supporting text, which helped maintain balance and clarity across the page.
One of the most important considerations was how Bancors would perform on mobile screens. I tested it at various screen sizes and found that it remained legible even at smaller breakpoints. However, I adjusted the font size slightly for mobile to ensure it didn’t get too cramped. This attention to detail helped maintain a polished online brand experience across all devices.
Bancors also proved to be a great choice for the logo text. The handwritten feel gave the brand a personal, approachable vibe, which resonated with the target audience. I made sure to check the included styles and webfont availability before finalizing the design. It was reassuring to see that Bancors offered multiple weights and alternates, giving me flexibility in how I used it throughout the site.
For the product landing pages, I used Bancors in combination with subtle decorative accents. It added a touch of sophistication without making the design feel cluttered. I also considered the background colors—light backgrounds allowed the font to stand out more clearly, while dark backgrounds required some contrast adjustments to maintain readability.
When it came to font pairing, I opted for a simple sans serif font for the body copy. This contrast between the decorative display font and the clean body text created a visually appealing hierarchy that guided the user’s eye naturally through the content. It also helped reinforce the brand’s identity as both creative and professional.
I noticed that Bancors had a unique impact on the overall mood of the website. It brought a sense of confidence and dynamism that elevated the user experience. People tended to scan the headlines more easily, and the visual hierarchy was clear, which improved engagement and reduced cognitive load.
Another area where Bancors shone was in the blog header sections. I used it for post titles and subheadings, which gave each article a consistent yet distinctive look. It helped create a sense of continuity across the site while still allowing for visual variation that kept things interesting.
I also thought about multilingual support and commercial licensing. Since the store targeted an international audience, it was important to confirm that Bancors supported the necessary characters. The font’s versatility and commercial license made it a safe and reliable choice for the project.
For promotional landing pages, I experimented with using Bancors in different layouts, such as placing it over image banners and within call-to-action areas. Each time, it added a layer of personality that made the content feel more engaging and trustworthy. It wasn’t just a font—it became part of the brand’s voice.
Overall, Bancors proved to be a versatile and impactful choice for this web design project. Whether used in headers, logos, or promotional graphics, it brought a modern, stylish edge that enhanced the user experience. As a designer, I always look for fonts that not only look good but also serve a functional purpose, and Bancors delivered on both fronts.
